Currently ranked the UK’s 11th largest distributor, Plastic Head has come a long way in its 18 year existence. Started from Director Steve Beatty’s bedroom at his parent's house, the company currently employs 40 people, exclusively handles sales and distribution in the UK for over 200 record and DVD labels (over 30,000 titles), a range of over 3,000 titles of merchandise and 4,000 titles of specialist vinyl from limited edition 7 inch box sets, picture discs to electronic 12’s. The company is also unusual in the fact that it owns its own business premises.

Plastic Head, although known for being specialist in rock genres, carries a diverse range of music and DVD titles. Plastic Head is a music distributor, not a carrier of “product”. Extreme Metal to Hip hop, Techno to Reggae, Ambient chill out to Hardcore Punk, it matters not, but quality is top priority.

SALES DEPARTMENT
The Plastic Head sales team includes members responsible for national accounts, to deal exclusively with the multiple UK high street retailers which include Zavvi, HMV, MVC, Music Zone and online retailers such as Play.com, Amazon etc. The team covers over 300 UK independent retailers ranging from on street shops to specialist mail order and online retailers.

We also have our own online store for direct to public sales. Our site is used by many labels as their own mail order service through a simple referral system.

LABEL MANAGEMENT
Each label is assigned a label manager whose responsibility it is to maintain day to day contact with a label and provide any guidance and advice that may be required. A label manager is allocated to a particular label on the basis of enthusiasm for their output and a good personal relationship.

Each label manager will specialise in the particular genre of music that they handle providing marketing information and understanding what is required to achieve the aims of a label. The label manager oversees the scheduling and release of records as well as the performance of the label in general. They work closely with the sales team to achieve realistic targets and with the warehouse in respect of stock.

Plastic Head’s marketing structure is part of our ever improving service to our labels and customers. Plastic Head has regular co-op campaigns with all UK multiple and independent retailers and can offer economic and high-profile marketing options.
